Assos T.Equipe RSR S9 bib shorts

Future is here: welcome RSR S9

This question unfolded on the road, at the Assos textile lab, and in the toughest races on the planet over the past six years. That compulsion to improve took their team further, drove them to a new pattern—an entire system focused on race-tuned structure and support.

Creation
To create the bib shorts that deliver the highest possible performance, Assos had to completely change the concept and eliminate the components that did not contribute to their primary goal. The idea was to reach the unparalleled level where speed and absolute comfort become one. Mission accomplished. May we introduce it to you? The Equipe RSR bib shorts S9 are here!

In the toughest racing environments, the Assos team found that even the minimal cycling wear detail should be as perfect as the frame or other bicycle component. Think for a moment of the World Tour bib shorts life: stiff and precise riding around corners, abrupt changes between different road surfaces, constant changes between sitting and standing, along with hours spent adjusting body position. All of this affects the design of the shorts, the way the padding works and the comfort they can offer you.

In order to effectively minimise these influences on the RSR project without adding weight, Assos examined the material firstly. Their aim was to created a new material that would combine the perfect blend of compressive hold, durability, softness and lightest weight. The brand new Type.701 compressor material, is exactly a complex woven material that is convincing in all areas. It's made of incredibly thin yarn with enormous elasticity, in a weave that's almost friction-free, giving you excellent comfort while providing optimal muscle support. In other words, the Type.701 material becomes your second skin and offers you superior support, breathability with a silky soft feel.

The material is the first phase of A-Lock Engineering: a new stabilizing system consisting of new techniques that stabilizes the bib shorts and help keep them in place. While the S7 generation was created with four fabric panels, the S9 generation has only two. The primary fabric is a "Butterfly insert", which completely surrounds the legs and converges on the back to a new ErgoBox structure. The design effectively prevents the padding from slipping, offering you an incredibly comfortable model that, combined with a Type.701 material offers you the best fit Assos have ever developed.

You'll find that they didn't use the RollBar for this version, saving a little more on weight, and focusing on the material's holding properties, which further stabilizes these shorts. The straps have also been redesigned using a new calibrated design. Consisting of 2 pieces: the front "V" shaped part is joined to the elastic strip folded on itself to form an A-Shape Back.

They have also dedicated special attention to the padding system: they've optimized it to make it even more performing in race conditions. Reducing the surface area to save additional weight, implemented the SuperAir MicroShock foam with the 3D Waffle surface and their KraterCooler system to increase air circulation and added a cushion with their patented horizontal stabilizer. The result? Assos' Golden comfort, a stabilization never seen before!

Application
The Equipe RSR S9 bib shorts are specifically engineered for professional cyclist and athletes who train year-round. Suitable to pair with other Assos wear items to complete the cycling outfit.

Technologies

A-Lock engineering
In the harshest racing environments, your shorts’ insert is only as good as the materials and patterning that support it. A-Lock Engineering is that framework. It’s our system of textiles and bracing technologies that stabilizes the shorts and secures everything in place.

ErgoBox
A square pattern construction that effectively frames the insert in the back, boxing it in for added stability.

Carbon Xbib
A single section of elastic material—folded over on itself—forming a supportive A-frame with tuned vertical elasticity.

Butterfly Pattern
Single fabric panel on the lower back and legs delivers a consistent, uniform hold and yields a lower overall weight.

Equipe RSR padding

  • KraterCooler: Ventilation holes increase airflow and cooling comfort.
  • SuperAir MicroShock foam: Shock-absorbing support via ultralight open cell foam.
  • 3D Waffle: Added breathability with proven three-layer composition.
  • Horizontal stabilizer: locks insert to outer textile with reinforced central stitch.
  • GoldenGate: promotes fluid, comfortable movement with-stitch free side panel construction.

ZeroWaist
A raw-cut, tape-reinforced edge for the smoothest transition possible between the body and fabric panel. More comfort with less pressure.

Ultralight leg grippers
New Lycra/Elastane leg band structure naturally grips the tight-free of silicone treatment to deliver a smooth, ultralight hold.

30% seam reduction
Flatter seams throughout, with fewer overall, translates to more comfort and lower overall weight.
