Technologies

Aero+
The symbiosis of drag, handling and efficiency. When refining a wheel according to AERO+, the optimization of all parameters is subject to one single goal: higher speeds.

The Ratchet technologies
Every ratchet has its purpose. Learn more about the different DT Swiss freehub systems. Each Ratchet System has its special characteristics, but they all provide the iconic reliability. This is a result of the simultaneous engagement of the teeth, creating far fewer point loads. Discover how the constructions differ and which common features they share.

Tubeless technology
All DT Swiss wheelsets are tubeless compatible and the ASM versions come tubeless ready, equipped with tubeless tape and valves. Tubeless tires have a number of advantages over the conventional combination of tube and tire: without risking snakebites, the tire can be run with lower pressures providing better grip. The lower pressure also results in a more comfortable ride. Eliminating the tube means there is no friction between tube and tire and therefore less rolling resistance when the tire rolls over the ground and obstacles. If tubeless sealant is used, the tire can self-seal stings and small cuts. A big advantage for all those who like to ride long and far from the next bikeshop.

Bearing technology
DT Swiss hubs are designed to function optimally once installed in a bicycle. To achieve this, the clamping force created by the wheel mounting system must be taken into account when constructing a hub. Learn how to ensure the optimal rotating property of the ball bearings and discover why DT Swiss does not offer hubs with adjustable bearing clearance. In order for a bearing to rotate, there must be a certain amount of play in the thousandth of a millimeter range. Without this clearance, the bearing cannot rotate. Bearing play occurs both radially and axially. Axial clearance describes how far one bearing ring can be displaced longitudinally relative to the other without load. Radial clearance is measured vertically to the center axis of the bearing.

Spoke technology
Producing your spokes, step by step. The production of high-quality spokes marked the beginning of the company. DT was synonymous with top quality Swiss spokes, even before the establishment of today‘s DT Swiss AG. To this day, DT Swiss spokes stand for durability and precision and are unrivalled thanks to their unique production process that combines lightweight with durability.
