The Crossmax SL is designed to be Mavic most advanced alloy cross-country wheel ever. For anyone looking to burn up the XC course, this lightweight, efficient 29” wheel offers the world’s easiest tubeless system at an attainable price. It offers many of our proven Mavic technologies at an attainable price. Weighing just 1700g, it’s a true all-rounder and the best alloy XC wheel in its category. The rims are made with our patented Fore technology featuring a fully sealed upper rim bridge that eliminates the need for rim tape. That saves 30 grams per wheel, not to mention the hassle of using tape to set up tubeless tires. The rim has a 25mm internal width with a durable hookless profile, and our Black Shield technology gives them a distinctive, modern look that protects against scratches and abrasions. Mavic use 24 straight-pull spokes (same spoke length throughout) for a strong connection between the rim and hub and a perfect balance between efficiency and durability. Special machining on the hub ensures that the spoke head is secured but can still travel in the slot. This allows the wheel to absorb impacts from trail obstacles. Our Instant Drive 360 freewheel coupled with QRM Auto bearing technology provides fast engagement and added durability. The Crossmax SL 29 is compatible with Shimano HG9, Micro Spline and SRAM XD driver bodies.

Instant Drive 360 freewheel technology
The new Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is super light and efficient. A large contactless rubber seal provides low friction, while a wide array of end caps makes it super versatile.

QRM Auto bearing preload technology
Qualité de Roulements Mavic Auto. The latest innovation. Those cartridge bearings are of course double sealed with C3 internal clearance. Their preload is automatically adjusted to guarantee a perfect spin with no play on the long run.

Black Shield treatment (protects your rim against impacts and scratches)
New MTB rim treatment. Doubled durability against impacts and rock scratches.

SUP welding technology
Stronger and smoother joint. After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish.

Fore tapeless tubeless technology
Stiffer and stronger. Instead of being drilled, the lower rim bridge is pushed up on the inside, then threaded to enable the spoke nipples to be directly screwed in it, leaving the upper rim bridge intact.
