Mavic Crossmax SL 29" Boost front wheel

The Crossmax name has a long tradition in the cross-country world, and the new Crossmax SL lives up to that legacy. It offers many of our proven Mavic technologies at an affordable price. Weighing in at just 1700g, it's a complete XC wheel, and the best in its class.
The rims are made with our patented Fore technology with a fully sealed rim top bridge with no flap required. This saves 30 grams per wheel, not to mention the complications of using the flap to fit tubeless tyres. The rim has an internal width of 25 mm with a strong profile without hooks. Our Black Shield technology gives it a distinctive, modern look and protects it from scratches and abrasions.
We use 24 straight-head spokes (the same spoke length throughout the entire construction) to create a strong bond between the rim and the hub and achieve a perfect balance between efficiency and strength. Special machining on the hub ensures that the spoke head is fixed, but can still move in the groove. In this way, the wheel absorbs impacts with obstacles on the trail. Our Instant Drive 360 freewheel, combined with our QRM Auto bearing technology, ensures quick engagement and additional strength. The Crossmax SL 29 is compatible with Shimano HG9, Micro Spline and SRAM XD drivetrain bodies. It is available with 6-bolt or Center Lock rotors in 29" only and is compatible with a 15x110 front axle and 12x148 rear axle. Comes with valves, spare spokes and accessories.

For a longer wheel life, Mavic recommends that the total weight carried by the wheels of the bike should not exceed 120kg, including the bike.
Recommended tyre size: 50-76 mm (2.0"-3.0").

Technologies

UST Tubeless Ready tyre
Traction, control and lightweight. The UST concept improves traction, control and comfort while reducing inertia and flats. The 'tubeless ready' construction results in a lighter tyre for improved performance.

QRM Auto bearing preload technology
Mavic latest innovation. Those cartridge bearings are of course double sealed with C3 internal clearance. Their preload is automatically adjusted to guarantee a perfect spin with no play on the long run.

Instant Drive 360
The new Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is super light and fast to engage at a rotation with only 9°. A large contactless rubber seal provides low friction, while a wide array of end caps makes it super versatile.

Soudé Usiné Process. After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish.

Fore tapeless tubeless technology
Stiffer and stronger
Instead of being drilled, the lower rim bridge is pushed up on the inside, then threaded to enable the spoke nipples to be directly screwed in it, leaving the upper rim bridge intact.
