Merida Silex 400 II1 GRX400 2024

Versatility never goes out of style. The SILEX 400 is an adventure-ready gravel bike that is equally at home during tough commutes or winter workouts, thanks to a durable aluminum frame, lightweight carbon fork, and ample tire clearance of 700 x 45 mm-or even 42 mm tires with fenders . The MTB-inspired geometry gives you great off-road confidence, the huge number of mounts makes it easy to carry what you need, and the durable 2x10-speed Shimano GRX groupset and effective brakes will take you over any terrain.

The SILEX turns any trip into an adventure, whether you're taking part in a multi-day bikepacking trip or simply taking the most fun route to work. The latest version builds on the winning pedigree of the original SILEX but adds even more off-road capability, thanks to a more open steering angle and increased tire clearance of up to 700x45 mm or 42 mm when fenders are installed. With carbon and aluminum frame options, there is a SILEX to fit every budget, but they all share the multiple mounting points, fender mounts and other features that lend themselves so well to this all-rounder bike. WIRE PORT cable routing has been added for a cleaner, more modern design, and the carbon fiber fork used on all models now has multiple mounts for cargo and an internal passage set up for possible dynamo. With the ability to use 1x or 2x drivetrains, you can choose your drivetrain based on the task at hand or your personal preferences, opening up a world of opportunities for you and your SILEX.

Technologies

Prolite 66 Triple Butted Aluminum
Proven high-end aluminum (6066) is extremely light and strong. By using triple-butted wall thicknesses and hydro forming technology, the best ratio of stiffness to weight can be offered.

HFS - Hydro forming system
Tubes are inserted into negative molds and a hot emulsion of water and oil is forced under pressure, enabling them to form complex shapes.

X-TAPER Headtube
The X-Tapered headtube provides space for mounting a tapered fork. Tapered forks offer exceptional stiffness and precision and provide confidence-inspiring steering.

Smooth welding
Sometimes called "double pass welding," a second pass on the weld gives the frame a clean, organic look. At first glance, you'll be convinced it's carbon.

Internal cable routing
Cables are routed through the frame, going in and out through smooth sockets. The bike has a clean look, while the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.

Down tube exit
Ensures that internally routed cables and cords cannot move freely and remain easily accessible for maintenance.

DI2 READY
Bicycles/frames with the "Di2 Ready" symbol are prepared for installation of Di2 technology by mounting the battery in the seatpost or inside the fork.

F-Mount
'F-Mount-equipped bikes have built-in fender fittings (some bikes require model-specific fenders), making mounting quick and easy.

C-Mount
'C-Mount equipped bikes have the attachment points for a rear rack already built in (some bikes require a model-specific rear rack), making mounting fast, easy and reliable.

Disc Cooler
A forged aluminum component under the front and/or rear caliper that allows heat to dissipate through CNC-milled cooling fins. Tests show that temperatures are reduced by about 35 percent and cooling times are shortened, optimizing brake performance.

Wire Port
MERIDA has designed covers that allow all control cables to enter the frame through the headset, creating a clean, uncluttered appearance without making structural changes to the frame. Depending on the model, the cables pass completely inside (including bar and stem) or semi-integrated where the cables enter the frame under the stem.
